Pre-Holiday Beauty Regime

Prep and pamper your hair and skin ahead of your summer holiday, with our 2-week pre-holiday beauty prep schedule

2 weeks before: Have a haircut and get it holiday ready

Now's the time to get your hair in the best possible condition to prepare it for the hot summer sun, sea salt and chlorine. The best way to prepare for this is to head to your hairdresser a couple of weeks before your holiday to give your tresses a colour, trim and treatment.

Pro tips: Get your highlights a few shades darker than normal because the sun will naturally lighten your hair.

10 days before: Give your feet a nourishing treatment

You'll want your feet looking their best in those new pair of gorgeous sandals you bought for the trip. Start to pamper your feet 10 days before you go away to  make sure they are silky smooth ahead of your holiday with our three-step guide.

1 week before: exfoliate, exfoliate, and exfoliate

The best way to get glowing skin according to skincare experts is to exfoliate on a regular basis.  However exfoliation is even more important in the lead up to going on holiday to give skin the best possible chance against drying out.  Coffee scrubs, salt scrubs or sugar scrubs all make wonderful exfoliates and after exfoliating, always lather your skin with a rich moisturising lotion.

Fun facts: Our skin loses water during the night. Invest in a high quality body moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. Apply after a shower whilst your skin is still wet, to seal in the water.

5 days before: wash your makeup brushes

You've spent time prepping and pampering yourself for your holiday so why not your makeup accessories as well?

We should be cleaning our makeup brushes on a regular basis anyway to remove product build up and bacteria. It also helps makeup go on more smoothly and offers a better coverage. Wash your tools before you go away for a fresh holiday makeup application.  See our journal Best Ways to Store Brushes for an easy step-by-step guide.

3 days before: it’s time to get the razor or wax ready!

Whether you wax or shave, now is when you want to de-fuzz. Research found that women shave their legs every 1-3 days. To avoid skin irritation, shave or wax your legs a few days before you go on holiday. Take your razor with you for any touch ups, but to keep your skin smooth, don't shave immediately before going in the sun.

2 days before: book yourself in for a manicure and pedicure

Book your manicure and pedicure appointment three days before your holiday so your fingers and toes look their best.  For long-lasting colour, opt for a gel nail polish and keep your nails short for less chances of breakage.

The night before: pack your airport security makeup bag

As the excitement builds, make sure the start of your holiday is as relaxing as it should be and get organised for a stress-free airport security experience. Pre-pack your beauty essentials in one of our beauty boxes the night before your holiday. Breeze through the airport without having to rummage in your handbag for makeup and avoid any costly confiscations.
